We are pleased to announce that the Western Australian Government has established the Stolen Generations Redress Scheme, providing long-awaited recognition and support for Aboriginal First Nations people who were removed from family, community and culture.
Key Facts:

The scheme is available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who were removed from their families in Western Australia before 1 July 1972.

Eligible applicants will receive a payment of AUD $85,000 in recognition of the harm caused by forced removal from family, community, culture and Country.

In addition to the payment, the scheme offers the option of a personal acknowledgement, giving survivors the opportunity to share their story and be formally acknowledged by the State Government.

Registrations for the scheme are expected to open in the second half of 2025, with payments to commence in late 2025.
How to Apply / What You Need to Know:

You are eligible if you fit the criteria: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; removed from family in Western Australia before 1 July 1972 when under age 18.

If you need assistance with your application, for example you may not have complete records of removal or identity documents. Please call our support services.

You do not need to pay anyone or any organisation to apply. Beware of “claim-farming” or services asking for payment.
